Today Apple has announced the Apple Watch Series 4, the announcement has come during their September event at the Steve Jobs theatre. We first saw images of the series 4 after they were supposedly discovered on a test feed by apple on August 30th.
The Series 4 is thinner than the series 3 and features a new edge to edge design screen, the watch comes with a stunning new Watch face which offers 8 complications. The series 4 uses the same watch fittings so users can continue to use their existing straps. Surprisingly the Series 4 comes in both 40mm and 44mm compared to previous 38mm and 42mm as rumoured earlier today.
New complications have been added to the series 4 watch and a new watch face with 8 customisable complications. The modular face has also been improved to allows MLB tracking, boarding information and lifesum integration.
The breath app can now be set as a watch face with three variations available. Other watch faces include an animated fire, water and vapour watch face. A new crown with a small red ring and a new speaker which is louder. The microphone has been moved to the crown side to make communication better, the back watch allows radio frequencies through as well as the front allowing better cellular collection.
The watch now has an S4 chip with 64 bit dual-core and 2x faster performance. The accelerometer and gyroscope have been improved. Series 4 watch can now detect if a person slip, trips or falls and can will deliver an alert with a countdown to call emergency services.

The heart rate sensor now sends a low heart rate alert, the watch can screen your heart rate in the background for AFib and can send alerts. A new electrical heart rate sensor for Electrocardiogram (ECG). To take an ECG you rest your finger on the Digital Crown. Readings are taken from the crown and the back of the watch and takes 30 seconds to start giving a reading. All ECG readings are stored in the health app in a PDF to give to your doctor.
Apple has received FDA clearance for the ECG and for the alert feature and will be available to USA customers later this year and worldwide at a later stage.
All data is still treated as private encrypted heath and fitness data. Battery Life has the same 18 hour battery life as the series 3, with outdoor workout battery life of 6 hours.
The series 4 comes in Silver, gold and space grey, Nike sport models now has a reflective element in the bands. The series and is priced starting at £399 for GPS, £499 for cellular 40mm. The series 3 is now priced at £279, the series 4 is available for pre-order on 14th and inshore on the 17th Vodafone joins EE in the UK .
