Apple has added the original 7.9-inch iPad mini originally released in November 2012, to its list of vintage and obsolete devices. Since the original launch of the iPad Mini apple has slowly improved the lineup and we are currently on the iPad mini 5 with Apple Pencil support.

The original mini had a low price point and was a success among those looking for a smaller portable option to the current iPad lineups.

Vintage products remain eligible for repairs and service at Genius Bars and Apple Authorized Service Providers, but only if those shops have the required parts in stock. Apple defines “vintage” devices as hardware that has not been manufactured for more than five years but fewer than seven years.
