Epic has been all over the news since they decided to take on Apple over their charge of 30% fee for in-app purchases. Epic who owns Fortnite decided to update their game giving users the ability to purchase in-app credit called V-bucks directly from Epic without the 30% charge. Epic knew that this move was against Apple’s TOS.

Apple responded by removing the app from the App Store but allowing those who have already downloaded the app to continue to use the game and Epic’s new in-app purchase option. Epic knew Apple would remove the App and had a lawsuit ready to go as soon as they were removed. Apple can argue that they have a right to charge the 30% as their fee for processing payments which Epic agreed to when submitting their game to the App Store which forbids any other payment method

This battle has now split Apple users over their view on Apple’s stance. Some iOS users feel that Apple is being monopolistic by charging what they consider a high fee and not allowing Epic to choose any other payment method options.

Other users feel that Apple has the right to charge these fees as they own the whole operating system and helps keeps users safe using their payment method.

One thing remains certain is that this will drag on for awhile as both sides won’t back down without a fight. Let us know in the comments below do you stand with Apple or Epic on this situation.
